- For Holiday volunteering: Community SeniorServ participates in a variety of holiday programs throughout the year. This
includes providing Thanksgiving meals to our congregate sites, participating in boutiques, and providing holiday gifts in December.
As a volunteer for holiday programs, you would help in the organization and execution of such events. The volunteer will help in
the planning of each event and may participate in the event on its scheduled day. Holiday program volunteers may be asked to attend
events at our congregate sites or pick up and deliver gifts. Please go to:

Mercy House

- One way to donate for the holidays:
- please visit the Mercy House Target Wish List to purchase a gift card that will be distributed to the homeless
men, women, and children staying in emergency shelters, or to those who visit our Emergency Walk-in Centers. Gift
cards are available in $10, $25 and $50 denominations. The larger denominations will be used to purchase items for
hygiene kits and breakfast bags.

- The Handmade Brigade of Orange County has teamed up to support Mercy House and is putting on
a Christmas Crafting party to help make it a Merry Christmas for homeless kids in Orange County.
We will be decorating Holiday Stockings for Children between the ages of 1 and 18. We ask that every
attendee bring $10 to go towards stuffing the stockings with candies, toys and other necessary items.

- There are plenty of other ways to help out, such as wrapping gifts or distributing food and stockings. Please
let us know if you are free to lend a hand during December. Groups and individuals are welcome to participate. Please

Second Harvest Food Bank

- 2009 Dana Point Turkey Trot – directly benefits the Second Harvest Food bank. Each dollar
donated provides about $12 worth of food to the hungry in our community. Volunteers provide more
than 55 percent of the labor, or the equivalent of 40 full-time employees. Your donation can make

- Volunteers are needed throughout Orange County to assist in our food drives in November and December.
We have a large food drive on Tuesday, November 24 at all of the Orange County Fire Authority fire stations
throughout Orange County. We will be assisting the firefighters at their stations to collect food that is
brought in. If you are interested in helping out with this event or other upcoming food drives, please let
us know and we will call you with food drives in your area. Please email your availability, the city that you
live in, the days/hours that you are available and your phone number.

- Care & Share Holiday Food Drive - The Care & Share Holiday food drive has arrived! October through December, Orange
County residents, companies, churches, and schools will team up to fight hunger by donating monetary donations and
non-perishable food items. The Food Bank will provide food donation barrels, posters, and flyers; and will pick-up
food donations at your food drive location. Contact the Food Drive Department at (949) 653-2900 to reserve your barrels
today!
